Working at Working

There's nothing quite like being told that your work is crap to get your day started off on the wrong foot.  Unless, of course, you overslept and it's a rainy grey day already ... and then someone says your work is crap.  And you have an unexpected bill for a few hundred dollars to cover.

If I didn't know any better I'd swear it was a Monday morning.  This kind of day should be reserved for Mondays: get it out of the way at the beginning of the week and have things go uphill from there.  Sadly, that's hardly ever the case, isn't it?

All in all work has been going well.  I've gotten myself involved in a few projects and assignments outside of my primary objective here, the team is great, and there's enough to keep me busy throughout the day.  I dare say that I'm settling into a little bit of a routine here -- but in a good way, regarding getting to work and getting things going for the week and being productive.

In hindsight, I don't believe for a second that the comment was trying to suggest that I was crap, or that the quality of my work sucks.  I think the individual had a very specific idea in mind for what he wanted this product to look like, and when it looked differently he just reacted.  Nevermind the fact that I wasn't working with this individual throughout any part of the process and that I'm doing him the favor by trying to knock this out today.  In fact, he's actually a really good bloke -- anybody who has NHL GameCenter available for streaming on not less than SIX different gaming systems and/or set-top boxes is A-OK in my book.

So, in the end, he wasn't wild about the first draft.  I'll make a second draft.  Writing things out like this helped stop me from stewing and lets me think a little clearer about the next version.

Which will be awesome.

Just wait.
